Just In Time was built for the moment when a young person still has time to change what happens next. This real-world legal-literacy diversion program helps youth ages 12–16 and their parents or caregivers understand how law, communication, and everyday decisions connect. Because no two people communicate in exactly the same way, we adapt instruction to the needs of each family without changing the legal expectations. Across three four-hour sessions, aligned with Iowa Academic Standards, Legal Literacy Competencies, and Juvenile Justice Competencies, participants build the understanding and skills to make a different choice next time.
We created Just In Case because young people should not have to enter the legal system before someone teaches them how it works. This real-world legal-literacy prevention program gives youth ages 12–16 a place to ask questions, understand their rights and responsibilities, and see how everyday choices can become legal consequences. We adapt how the material is delivered to the way participants learn and communicate, so the information actually reaches them. Aligned with Iowa Academic Standards, Legal Literacy Competencies, and Juvenile Justice Competencies, Just In Case helps youth think ahead, speak up, and make informed choices before one moment changes what comes next.
